Life In The Fast Lane

Sixty-five million Americans (almost one person in four) have high blood pressure. Fifty million have problems with sleep. Forty million suffer from some form of anxiety disorder. Untold millions are troubled with headaches, ulcers, back pain, and tension. This is an overstressed culture.

What does the Bible have to say about this? "That ye study to be quiet, and to do your own business, and to work with your own hands" (1 Thess. 4:11).

OUR NATION'S GODLY HERITAGE
BULLETPROOF GEORGE WASHINGTON
The Father of our country experienced a miracle early in his military
career. This account is widely known and was included in most school history
textbooks, until recent changes caused it to be deleted from many books.

During the French and Indian war at the Battle of the Monongahela, young
Colonel Washington was engaged in a fierce skirmish with the Indians.
An easy target in his bold red coat, he crisscrossed the battlefield carrying
General Braddock's orders to the troops. The Indian warriors later acknowledged
that they were targeting all officers--and particularly Washington--in
the bright garb. Yet Washington survived. There were eighty-six British
and American officers involved in the battle; sixty-three of them died.
Colonel Washington was the only officer on horseback who was not . . .

The Presidential Prayer Team is pleased to bring you the next in a series
of articles from members of our Honorary Committee. This week we take a look
at the John Tesh family and how their simple prayer, "Lord give us vision" is
bringing help and hope to one small corner of the world.

Lord, Give Us Vision:
The Tesh Family's Answered Prayer
by Meagan Gillan
PPT Editor

Along with his wife, actress Connie Sellecca, Presidential Prayer
    Team Honorary
Committee Member John Tesh has fans around the world. But he added an unexpected
group to his fan base when he took his family to Sri Lanka to minister to tsunami
victims. Though deeply impacted by the experience, the Tesh family never expected
the unlikely outcome of their simple prayer, "Lord, give us vision."
OFFICIAL PRAYER FOR THE NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER

PRAYER FOR THE NATION
Written by Max Lucado
Dear God,
Not to us, O Lord, but to You goes all the glory. We depend on you. You give
birth and breath and determine our days. You make every nation and set every
boundary. We exist by your power. We exist for your glory. Showcase your
power through this land. Display your justice in our courts, wisdom in our
governments, guidance in our schools and love in our homes. Have mercy upon
our sins. We have disrespected Your Word, disregarded your gifts, discarded
your children. We are sorry. Forgive us, dear Father.
Grant strength to all our leaders. May they serve you first and honor you
most. Remind us of the brevity of this life and the beauty of the next. Prepare
our souls for the day we meet You in eternity.
This we pray in your holy name, Amen.

WORDS FROM THE PRESIDENT ON THE NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER

National Day of Prayer
By the President of the United States of America A Proclamation
In his first Inaugural Address, President George Washington prayed that the
Almighty would preserve the freedom of all Americans. On the National Day of
Prayer, we celebrate that freedom and America's great tradition of prayer.
The National Day of Prayer encourages Americans of every faith to give thanks
for God's many blessings and to pray for each other and our Nation. Read more...

On this, the month of my
birth, and the 85th year of my life, I wish to post this very
significant resume, as a testimony to the one who has been in my employ all of
the days of my life. If He is not the
employ of yours, I urge you to invite Him into your life. If you have already done so, rejoice with me
for His contribution to our lives and count your blessings!

COUNT YOUR BLESSINGS

When upon life's billows you are tempest tossed,

When you are discouraged thinking all is lost,

Count your many blessing every doubt will fly,

And you will be singing as the days go by.

Count your blessings, name them one by one,

Count your blessings see what GOD has done,

COUNT... your blessings...

Name them ONE... by... ONE,

Count your many blessings see what GOD has done!

March Wendellism

March Wendellism
To you who follow this column regularly, you are cognizant of my distress over
the “Church & State” controversy. The general public and some of the national
judicial concept of the aforementioned principal has no basis in fact. The fact
that our Founding Fathers intended the concept to mean “no mention of God or
his precepts” be allowed on the national scene is totally erroneous with no
  basis in fact.

Raising Thinking Kids

Raising Thinking Kids
Ask parents what worries them most about their children, and you’ll probably
  discover many common concerns.

“I want my daughter to adjust well to school and make a commitment to not
only stay in school but stay involved in school.”

“I want my son to make good friends and stay away from the bad crowd.”

“I don’t want my kids to resort to violence to solve a problem.”
